Charges in Shooting 4815 1 Ave West

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – June 22, 2012 – Additional charges were filed in the shooting that occurred at 4815 1 Ave West. The total charges are Attempt to Commit Murder (Class B Felony 25 years), Willful Injury (Class C Felony 10 years/$500 Fine), Going Armed with Intent (Class D Felony 5 years/$500 Fine), Carrying Weapons (Aggravated Misdemeanor 2 years/$5000 fine), Assault Domestic Abuse.

 

On Thursday, June 21, 2012, at about 3:50 pm, the Cedar Rapids Police Department responded to a shooting at 4815 1 Ave West. When they arrived, they found Andre Kearney/18, of Cedar Rapids, had been shot in the torso. He was taken to St Luke’s Hospital where he was treated and released.

 

Through their investigation, they found that Kearney had a verbal disagreement with Robert Norris, 8/26/92, 4815 1 Ave West, #2F at the entrance when Norris had a handgun and shot Kearny. As Norris went back into the residence, Shanise Williams/19 was assaulted by Robert Norris when he pushed and slapped her in the head.

 

At this time, Norris was arrested for Simple Assault Domestic Abuse. He was taken to Linn County Jail.

 

The investigation continues.
