Firefighters responded to a fire in a germ dryer at the Cargill Plant located at 1710 16th St SE this evening. Cargill employees assisted firefighters gaining access to affected areas of the plant. Cargill employees and firefighters were able to extinguish the fire with the application of steam and firefighting streams to extinguish the fire.
 
It took 15 Firefighters and a contingent of Cargill employees approximately one hour to extinguish the fire. Cargill employees will be on-site in the overnight hours to repair any damage from the fire and monitor the area. Plant officials report that production will not be affected at the facility.
