Walk more. Connect More.

Walking is an easy, convenient way to add a healthy habit to your daily routine. Walking not only offers health benefits – like lowered risk of certain diseases and obesity – but walking with others provides social benefits as well. This year’s Healthiest State Initiative walk theme “Walk more. Connect more.” encourages Cedar Rapids’ to walk with friends, family members and co-workers. Cedar Rapids, a Healthy Hometown Community, encourages residents to join the walk and help promote a culture of health in our community.

Join us on Wednesday, October 3 as we participate in the Healthiest State Annual Walk. Cedar Rapids will be walking with thousands of Iowans across the state in support of the Healthiest State Initiative’s annual walk. The walk will begin in front of City Hall, 101 First Street SE. The walk officially starts at noon, but please join us a few minutes early for a group photo. Walkers will follow a 20 minute walking route ending at Greene Square where tailgate-style food, games, and music will be available. This short event is designed for you to move, connect and get back to your day.

Cedar Rapids is committed to community health improvement and is proud to once again host the annual Healthiest State Walk. This year, special guest Iowa Governor Reynolds will be joining us as we “Get our Walk On.” We hope you can join the walk and help us move more and feel better in Cedar Rapids.
