Meet Grant Weber - Youth Sports Coordinator
The Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce the addition of Grant Weber to our recreation programming team. Grant will lead the department’s youth sports classes and activities. His office is located at the Northwest Recreation Center where he will lend a hand in supervising the center.
Grant comes to the City of Cedar Rapids from the City of Warrensburg, Missouri, where he worked as a Recreation Supervisor, programming and supervising all youth and adult sports leagues and activities, concessions and seasonal part-time sports staff. Prior to that, he worked for the City of Dewitt, Iowa, assisting the Director with recreation programs and working in the maintenance division prepping sports fields.
Grant attended the University of Iowa, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Sport and Recreation Management in 2016, and is originally from DeWitt. “I began working in this field at 15 years old as a soccer referee and now have over 10 years’ experience in the field. I enjoy working with people and providing a service that is an essential part of a healthy community. I’m able to be involved with sports, as well as work with youth which is something I’ve always enjoyed,” he said.
While Grant gets to know Cedar Rapids, he will also be spending time watching and playing sports, fishing, playing video games and singing in a rock band.
