Five Seasons Citizenship Award

Each year the Cedar Rapids City Council awards five local citizens with the Five Seasons Citizenship award. This award honors individuals who have gone above and beyond to benefit the Cedar Rapids community and residents. The winners each receive recognition at a ceremony during Resident Appreciation Day at the first Downtown Farmer’s Market each year, as well at a $1000 cash award, to be donated to the charity of their choice, thanks to a generous sponsorship from the University of Iowa Community Credit Union.

Since starting the program in 2012, we have honored 25 worthwhile recipients, which provided $25,000 in funding for local non-profit organizations. Every year I am in awe of the numerous applicants and the wonderful work so many are doing in our community. If you know of someone whose work in Cedar Rapids deserves special recognition, I encourage you to nominate them for this year’s award. Nominations are due April 28 and the winners will be recognized at the Downtown Farmer’s Market on June 3.
