Special Response Team

The CRPD's Special Response Team (SRT) has been in existence since 1975. SRT Officers are assigned to the Patrol and Investigative Divisions and are activated for tactical missions as needed, 24 hours a day. The team consists of a 20-officer tactical unit specializing in Hostage Rescue, Barricaded Subjects, High-Risk Search Warrants, VIP Protection, and Crowd/Riot Control.
The Special Response Team is made up of three teams:
- Assault/Entry Team
Approach, position, enter and secure building, vehicles, aircraft and other tactical objectives. Primary equipment includes: ballistic shields, handguns, sub-guns, rifles, shotguns, less-lethal munitions, and breaching gear.

Containment Teams
Maintain inner perimeter surrounding an objective, relay intelligence to the team commander/leader. Primary equipment includes: handguns, shotguns, rifles, distraction devices, chemical munitions, less lethal munitions.

Marksman/Observer Teams
Two-Officer Teams capable of Observation, Intelligence Gathering, Relaying Information to the Team Commander/Leader, Initiating Assaults/Entries, Incapacitating Threats not Visible to the Inner Perimeter. Primary equipment includes: Precision Telescopes/Observation Scopes, Precision, High Powered Rifles, various Camouflaging Gear.
