Canine Unit

 


The Cedar Rapids Police Department currently utilizes six canine teams. The canine unit is commanded by Lieutenant Jeff Hembera.  If you'd like more information, please contact Lt. Officer Chad Langfitt and Dresco

Dresco is a Belgian Tervuren from Holland whose handler is Officer Chad Langfitt. In Holland he earned titles in tracking and obedience. He was also trained in protection and narcotics detection. Officer Langfitt and Dresco have been partners since September of 2000.

 

 

Officer Graham Campshure and Charger

Canine Charger is a Sable Shepard from Holland.  Officer Campshure and Canine Charger have been working together since August of 2004.  Canine Charger is a dual purpose narcotics dog, trained in detecting several types of narcotics as well as handler protection, tracking, criminal apprehension and building and open area searches.

 


  

Officer Wayne Handeland and Wendy

Wendy's partner is Officer Wayne Handeland. She's a Belgian Malinois imported to the United States from Holland. She is a dual-purpose bomb dog trained in explosive detection as well as handler protection, search, and apprehension.

 

 

Officer Al Fear and Marco

Marco is a Belgian Malinois who began working with Officer Fear in March of 2008.  Marco is from Holland and is trained as a dual-purpose K9 in both narcotics detection and patrol work which includes tracking, apprehension and area searches.

 


 

 

Officer Brian Nachazel and Lucky

Lucky is a Belgian Malinois who was imported from Holland.  Lucky began working for the Cedar Rapids Police Department in March of 2008 after completing the standard 5-week training course in Indiana.  Lucky is trained as a dual-purpose K9 in both narcotics detection as well as patrol work.

 


 

 

Officer Tim Davis and Rambo
Rambo is  Belgian Malinois from Holland.  Rambo began his duty with the Cedar Rapids Police Department in March of 2008 after completing a 5-week course at Vohne Liche Kennels in Indiana.  Rambo is a dual-purpose K9 trained to detect narcotics and function in a patrol setting.
